Oakland_16th_Street

16th Street Station as of 8/2/2003. Elevated structures are still in place, but the tracks have long since been removed.

Not only have the tracks been removed from the elevated structure which was used exclusively by the local SP Red Trains until their demise in 1941, but the ground level mainland tracks have also been removed to make way for the replacement freeway of the earthquake destroyed Cypress Structure. The new mainland tracks are now located several thousand feet to the west in what used to be the Bay when this station was constructed in the 1910's.
