On May 12,1930, car 987 was broadsided by the W.P. train @ 23rd Ave. and E.12th St. No one was killed or seriously injured. The car was scrapped. Source: Vernon J. Sappers.

The Consolidated Aircraft Co shown in the background was the producer of military aircraft such as the famous WW2 PBY "Catalina" flying boat patrol bomber, among whose many rescues of flyers downed in the Pacific was one George HW Bush. The company later merged with Vultee (then of Downey, CA), to become Consolidated-Vultee, or Convair. Which later became part of General Dynamics. Connections.
