Unfortunately, like the west portal of this tunnel the east portal has also been buried under tons of dirt. While the west portal lead in was filled to create valuable real estate for housing, the east portal lead in was filled because the tunnel caved in from behind the cement facade for about 20 to 30 feet in the late 1970's. For a couple weeks it was thus possible to enter the tunnel. But you needed to wear your hip waders because the water that used to flow out of the tunnel entrance now had nowhere to go and soon backed up a few feet deep quite aways up the tunnel.
