You folks are doing a great job with this..I lived and played music in the East Bay in the 60s and 70s. Thank you for preserving what you can. This I.D. card has me stoked-it bears on research I'm doing on an SP employee who worked at the Freight Office in Richmond in the 1920s. Does anyone know where that office was located, are there any photos of it,and is there any chance there's a list of employees? If someone replies,I can give more detail on the person in question, incl her name. She lived in Oakland at the time,so must have commuted via perhaps the electric line. Thanks very much..Brian Voorheis Friendship,NY 14739.

Am I to understand from your comments that Jane Ward is still living? In a stroke a real coincidence, I used to stay with Clayton and Jane for two weeks each summer while working at the Cabrillo Music Festival. I think Jane moved back to the Central Valley after Clayton died.

Ken,I apologize profoundly for any confusion in this matter. My wording is such that I fully understand why you perceived my statement as you did. Jane Ward is NOT the person in question-my subject's name was Helen R. Clothier;she grew up in the CA Delta,Marin Cty,and as I said, later lived in Oakland. Wish I could help you with Jane, and if I ever run into her name I'll post a msg for you here.Hey,I'm a musician,so thanks for your work on the Festival. If you'd like to view some images of Helen, family, and friends, you may do so at http://freepages. genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry. com/~npmelton/sp.html And I've found a place to get pix of the SP Depot & Sta.in Rich-mond. Thanks, everybody, and keep saving history. cheerz =bv=

Clayton E. Ward was my great uncle who lived with his wife Jane in Aptos. He rose thru the ranks from typist to VP quite proudly. I've inherited a book of such rail passes which are a very interesting peek into the past. Ken, you are correct that Aunt Jane moved to her family's estate near the delta to live her last years. I think she passed away in the early 90's.
