In a few places it looked like some of the rail was used as concrete reinforcement. All the rail I found on my hike today was different guages. This one here was very small. I'd say about the same size as the rail used at the Tilden Steam trains!

We just took another hike up here last weekend and looked at this again. There is another rail to the right out of view. I dug around and this rail is actually at concrete height and there is a groove in the concrete for a wheel flange. So it appears that some sort of railed vehicle was on this thing. You'd have to see it to get any ideas how anything could have traveled on it.
