Col. John Scott mentioned as the "marshal of the day" was to become the Fire Chief after spending his money on fire equipment. Mayor Felton had an Engine Company (No. 2)named afer him...he paid the freight to have the engine shipped from the east coast.

Super info on first transcon trains to Bay Area. Regrettably, multiple efforts to download/print even on different computer equipment, fails to print entire text(which even in the display mode is incomplete).
