I have fond rememberances of this station. As a young boy, my grandmother would take me to San Francisco every now and then. We would take a Key System bus to the station, then a local STEAM train to Oakland Pier thence Ferryboat to SF.. Great memories! "Key Route Ken"...

i believe the tall building in the background is the Montgomery Ward Store - recently demolished.

Yep, the building in the background is the Montgomery Ward store. There were several sales floors, as I recall. We shopped there; these are my old stamping grounds.

I was involved in repair work in there in the mid 80's. Mobile Oil was the owner. The basement was still being used for retail sales but the remainder of the building was used for storage.
